Explosion On Worksite Results In The Death Of A California Employee
A workplace accident from November 2013 has resulted in the death of an Aerojet employee.
Almost five whole months after a workplace explosion at Aerojet Rocketdyne’s campus in Rancho Cordova, California, one of the injured employees has lost his life. The accident remains under investigation after the man, 54, passed away at the UC Davis medical center, according to Sacramento County records.
The employee had worked for Aerojet, a rocket-engine manufacturer, for approximately 33 years. However, on November 19, 2013, the blast shook up the entire Aerojet complex, located off Highway 50, just before 8 a.m. Two employees were injured in the catastrophe. While one was unable to survive the incident, the other was treated for less severe injuries.
After the accident, emergency personnel rushed to the scene. However, it did not take long before investigators determined that the explosion was the result of an industrial accident. As a result, the case was submitted to the California Division of Occupational Safety (Cal/OSHA).
Before his death, the injured worker suffered from burns and other injuries, according to his death certificate. The cause of death was noted as a “hemorrhagic cerebrovascular accident,” which is another term for a stroke.
